the office confessional.

Got something to share? The office confessional is a quick and easy piece of content to help you connect and communicate with your audience.

The key to this reel is how you set up to film yourself - and confidently delivering your message.

what you need:

  • What you want to say.

  • Your phone.

  • Something to prop your phone up with.

  • An office you can film in.

how to create the reel:

  1. Quickly sketch out the key points of what you want to say and how you’re going to say it. You don’t need to write a script, but it is helpful to know the key points you want to make and how you are connecting those points so you don’t waffle on.

  2. Set up your phone with the front facing camera on your desk. Prop it up against some books or your water bottle - whatever you need to get a good lower angle shot.

  3. Hit record and wait for a few seconds to ensure the camera has started.

  4. Make sure you look at the camera lens - not yourself! This is essential to make the video engaging.

  5. Be natural! You can move your hands or lean in towards the camera as you would when you’re talking to a friend.

  6. Don’t be afraid to film as many takes as it takes. You’re aiming for a clear, concise message that looks and sounds natural. You’re not aiming for perfection.

  7. Once you’ve nailed the message, edit out the pause at the start and any awkwardness at the end of the clip.

  8. Add captions and post.

You can trim your video in your photos app, or on Instagram, CapCut or any video editing software.

You can add captions in Instagram or on CapCut.

If you’re comfortable filming yourself and talking on camera, add a visual hook at the start to grab attention.

This may be sitting down into your chair, adjusting your camera or even taking a sip of coffee. This movement aims to stop the scroll so people watch your reel.
